Safety is one.  This is the reason the world is filled with more employees than inventors, entrepreneurs, or artist.  People perceive jobs as safe.  But if there is anything that we should have learned since the global economic downturn is that the very opposite is true.  Seeking safety is risky.

Maps are another.  Most people looking to start something new want to know exactly how to do it.  They are good at following instructions and if they can find someone who has done what they are looking to do successfully then the rest is easy (so they think).  The problem is the more people/companies there are that have done successfully what it is you’re looking to do the more difficult it will be for you show value.  The most valued artist are those that pave the way, not follow the way.
