Tall Ships landed in Philadelphia this week. I spent the day sailing with the crew of the tall ship Picton Castle. Working a ship is hard, dirty, and dangerous. Surprisingly the majority of the crew were young ladies. The seemed to be excellent in their task (so did the young men).
These young people are gaining a wonderful experience in leadership, diligence, and self confidence. As I watched these two young ladies climb to the top of the ships mast I thought of Rudyard Kipling’s words in the poem If.
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you, but make allowance for their doubting too.
To the crew of the Picton Castle I say keep up the good work.
