Go to school, do well, obey your teachers, and get a good education so that you can get a good job. That was the promise of the industrial age. Promises were also made about fairness, upward mobility, and a good life during our golden years.
But those promises along with the industrial age have all gone the way of the DoDo Bird. So what should you do?
Two things; First, trust your self, and second embrace the new promises of the connection economy. The connection economy promises that if you find the courage to trust yourself, you can have freedom, and you can do the work that matters most to you.
One challenge is that broken promises cause us to be hesitant to trust the shiny new promise. For many trusting yourself is hard enough, it gets especially difficult when in a connection economy you also have to trust others in the network to do their part also. But that’s how it works. Bee’s are especially good at this. The individual bee is completely dependent on the network for it’s survival, and the hive (the network) is completely dependent on each individual bee for it’s survival.
