The Fierce Urgency of Now!

On March 28, 1963 The March on Washington For Jobs and Freedom took place.  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivered his famous I Have a Dream Speech.  An often overlooked theme of the speech, and one of the reasons Dr. Kings said they had come to that hollowed spot (the Lincoln Memorial) was to remind America of the fierce urgency of now.

Turns out that Dr. King was on to something.  That is that the best time to do anything is always…Now.

The Now Perspective

Now, is not the time to engage in the luxury of cooling off.

Now is not the time for taking the tranquilizing drug of gradualism.

Now speeds up the day when _______ (fill in the blank with something that matters to you).

Now is the language of action.

Now is the best time to speak up, stand with, or sit in.

Now is a great time to listen to Dr. King talk about the urgency of now…you can listen here.
